Hillbilly Plop — 1.4" Micro Topwater Plopper
Small but mighty, the Hillbilly Plop is a precision-engineered micro topwater bait that delivers oversized action. Its compact body is perfectly balanced for lifelike swimming, while the prop blade churns the surface with a subtle “plop” that fish simply can’t resist. This unique combination of sound, flash, and vibration draws explosive strikes from panfish, trout, bass, and other predators that often shy away from bigger lures.
Whether you’re stalking wild Appalachian creeks or working pressured ponds, this little bait punches far above its weight class — proving that sometimes the smallest lures bring the biggest rewards.
The Legend of the Hillbilly Plop
Mountain lore tells of an old-timer deep in the Smoky hollows who could coax trout from the river with nothing more than a crooked grin and a lure he called the Hillbilly Plop. Perched on a mossy log at dusk, he’d whisper to the water as his tiny prop bait danced across the surface, each gentle “plop” echoing through the pines. Fish rose not just from hunger, but out of curiosity — drawn by the lure’s whir and faint tinkling song.
To this day, the story is told around Appalachian campfires: how one humble, twirling bait could charm even the wariest fish, turning a quiet evening on the creek into a tale worth telling.

The size, colors, and sound, of these hillbilly plopper lures are great. The prop works really well at any speed and makes a good amount of noise, disturbance, and bubbles on the surface. Really awesome lures all around. I have the popper, plopper, lipless crank, and jerkbaits. I’m really pleased with all of them and looking forward to buying some more.
Went to a friends lake today and tried these lures out on a hot August morning and the worked great. Caught 12 bass in 90 minutes.
caught several largemouth within the first 30 minutes, I'm thinking of just leaving it on the rod.
Enjoy shopping the site and service / delivery are exceptional!
A great little lure. The action is straight but the little prop spins nicely and gives it a presence. I’ve thrown it in a couple local ponds and Sunfish are all over it - both big ones and even the little guys can’t seem to resist a strike. Pretty decent hookup rate. I got the raven/purple version, just because I like the colors, but I may have to go back and get the green as well.
