Wake Bait
Hand Carved
Some topwater baits make a commotion. This little feller just sneaks across the creek.
The Boyan Creek Waker is a ridiculously small hand-carved balsa micro wake bait measuring just 18mm (0.71") and weighing only 0.5g. It's built for those calm pockets, shallow runs and quiet creek edges where subtle can beat loud all day long.
Its small angled lip catches just enough water to keep the bait working at the surface, creating a tiny swimming action and visible wake as it comes back to you. Instead of popping or splashing, the Creek Waker looks like a little piece of forage trying to get somewhere without getting noticed.
And that's usually about the time something notices it.
Carved By Boyan. One At A Time.
Each Creek Waker is individually hand-carved and hand-finished by Boyan. At only 18mm long, these are tiny pieces of functional fishing art — shaped, painted, detailed and assembled by hand.
That's exactly why we brought them into the Creek Life shop. They're weird, tiny, useful, beautifully made, and built for the same little waters we can't seem to stay out of.
Wake It Across The Creek
- Slow & Steady: Crawl it along the surface and let the little wake do the talking
- Wake & Pause: Stop it beside rocks, wood, shade lines and current breaks
- Across The Current: Let flowing water help swing the bait through feeding lanes
- Low-Light Water: Work it around shaded banks and overhanging cover where fish are looking up
- Best paired with ultralight, XUL and specialized light BFS tackle
Not A Popper. Not A Crankbait.
A wake bait lives in that sweet little zone right at the surface. Rather than digging down like a traditional crankbait or throwing water like a popper, the Creek Waker is about subtle surface movement, swimming action and wake. It's a different look for fish that are already watching the top.
What's Looking Up?
Bluegill • Sunfish • Rock Bass • Redeye • Trout • Crappie • Creek Smallmouth
If it's sitting underneath that slick little wake wondering what made it, you're already halfway there.
Where It Belongs
Calm creek pools, shallow runs, slack water behind boulders, pond edges, shaded banks, current seams, undercut banks and those little glassy pockets underneath overhanging limbs.
A Note About Handmade: Every Boyan lure is individually made by hand. Small variations in carving, paint, foil placement, eyes, hardware alignment and finish are normal. Those little differences are part of what makes each bait unique.
Hand carved by Boyan. Picked for the little water we call home.
