Snatcher

Snatcher, A Bold Wet Fly for Subsurface Trout

Give trout a different look beneath the surface with the Snatcher, a size 12 wet fly featuring a deep burgundy profile, radiating hackle fibers, and reflective accents. Its textured silhouette makes it a useful searching option when fish are feeding below the surface but aren’t responding to a more subdued presentation. Work it through lake margins, weed edges, or softer river seams, varying your depth and retrieve to find feeding fish.

Pattern Details

• Style: Wet fly / subsurface attractor
• Color: Deep burgundy with reflective accents
• Size: 12
• Best water: Lakes, reservoirs, slow-moving runs, and sheltered current seams
• Techniques: Slow hand-twist retrieves, short strips with pauses, or controlled wet-fly swings

In stillwater, begin with a slow retrieve and use a countdown to explore different depths. Mix short strips with pauses to change the fly’s pace, particularly along weed edges and drop-offs. If trout are feeding higher in the water, shorten the countdown and keep the presentation closer to the surface. In moving water, swing the Snatcher through softer seams while maintaining enough contact to detect a take without dragging the fly too quickly.

Keep the Snatcher in your wet-fly selection when you want a burgundy attractor with texture and a touch of flash.
